Mooncake + Dim Sum @ Le Mei, Le Meridien Putrajaya

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with a selection of finely curated mooncakes, prepared by award-winning Chef Michael Wong and his culinary team at Le Mei, Le Meridien Putrajaya.

Le Mei is offering five varieties of traditional baked mooncakes and three varieties of snow skin mooncakes. You can purchase these mooncakes from the mooncake counter at Le Meridien Putrajaya lobby (12pm-8pm) or from Le Mei (12pm-10.30pm) until 4 October 2017.

We were invited over to the restaurant to sample the mooncakes, but first, we were treated to a delicious dim sum lunch. Expect creative, out-of-the-ordinary dim sums when you dine here - it's always exciting to see what new creations the chefs have come up with.

To start, we had a trio steamed items, namely the Steamed fresh shrimp with spinach dumplings, Green pea phoenix shrimp with ebiko and Squid ink dumplings filled with sea urchin, asparagus and prawns. Everything was immaculately prepared and we simply love the freshness of the ingredients, especially the huge, bouncy prawns.

Next, we had some deep fried items, including Almond-coated golden prawn balls with Parmesan cheese, Crispy dried cod fish fillet with fresh prawn and Black sesame cigar rolls. Click here for the full dim sum menu.

Wok hei is a crucial element for fried rice, and the Squid Ink fried rice with prawns and topped with fried dried shrimps definitely had plenty of it. Loved this - simple and good!

For those who like baked mooncakes, the flavours available here are Low sugar white lotus paste (RM30), Pandan lotus paste with melon seed (RM30), Low sugar white lotus paste with single egg yolk (RM32), Pandan paste with single egg yolk (RM32) and Assorted fruits and nuts (RM33).

We tried the Pandan paste with single egg yolk - the filling was smooth with a lovely, oily yolk.

The Assorted fruits and nuts mooncake features 5-6 types of nuts (such as almond, peanut and sesame) as well as kaffir lime leaves to give it a lovely fragrance.

The bestseller here is the Premium durian mini snow skin (RM55). Chef Michael tells us that they are made with 100% musang king flesh so every bite is creamy and absolutely sinful. If you purchase four mooncakes, you can enjoy a 30% discount off your total bill.

The signature mooncake at Le Mei is the Salted egg ice-cream mini snow skin (RM18), which is only available for dine-in due to its delicate nature. Best eaten when it has thawed slightly, so you can enjoy the creaminess and savouriness of the salted egg ice cream with the soft, chewy snow skin. Definitely a must-try. There is also a Pumpkin and raisin mini snow skin flavour (RM18).
