Hotel Review: Le Meridien Putrajaya, Malaysia

Recently we had a staycation at one of the newest hotels in Putrajaya, Le Meridien Putrajaya. The hotel is conveniently located next to IOI City Mall, and only a 20-minute drive from KL.

We stayed in the Signature Room (42 sq m) which was spacious and well-furnished. We requested for twin beds to accommodate our family of four. All rooms come with the signature Le Meridien beds with hypoallergenic goose down duvets and duck feather pillows - very comfortable and we definitely had a good night's sleep. The room is equipped with a 40" LED TV and you can stay connected via complimentary Wifi available in the rooms and all public areas.

The bathroom is spacious, and comes with a separate bath tub and shower. The bathroom and bedroom is separated by a glass wall (our kids took advantage of this feature and watched Disney Channel while they soaked in the bathtub), however there are blinds for privacy.

Our room on the 9th Floor overlooked the swimming pool, and we even caught a glimpse of KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers. Some other rooms will have the view of the lush, green golf course.

The Club Lounge on level 20 is a great vantage point to take in the surrounding views of Putrajaya and KL into the distance. Guests staying in the Le Meridien Club Room category and above will receive access to the lounge. In the evenings, guest may enjoy cocktail hour from 5.30pm onwards until 8pm - a selection of food and drinks are available. Families will be able to bring their children along during cocktail hour (as long as they're well behaved!).

There are three F&B outlets at the hotel, namely Latest Recipe, Le Mei and Latitude 02. Latest Recipe, the hotel's all day dining restaurant offers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.  For breakfast, you will find a large selection of Asian dishes such as roti canai, nasi lemak, porridge and dim sum as well as pastries and eggs cooked to order.

Buffet dinner at Latest Recipe - love the sashimi and chilli crab!

Breakfast is also served at the Club Lounge. Guests who prefer more privacy can choose to dine here.

Le Mei is the hotel's Chinese restaurant and serves great pork-free dim sum as well as good value for money set lunches. They also have a great selection of a la carte dishes available in the evening for dinner.

Grab some signature eclairs and drinks at Latitude 02 - a cosy and nice place to chill. The kids also enjoyed an eclair decorating session here.

We always make full use of a hotel's swimming pool during our short family breaks; we get the chance to exercise and also have some fun and laughter together.  The kids can entertain themselves in the pool nowadays giving us the option to join them or relax and supervise from the side.

The hotel pool is located on Level 3. There is an adult size pool (1.1m) as well as children's pool (0.3m). The pool area is well landscaped, with a good mix of tiles, artificial grass, pool furniture and trees.  The tasteful furnishing within the pool area combined with the glorious green views across the golf course and blue sky make it easy to relax and forget about everyday life in KL.

For those with younger children, the hotel also has a Kids Club located on Level 3. Open daily from 9am to 5pm, there are building blocks as well as a ball pit for them to play in.

The hotel is connected to IOI City Mall (access at Lobby level). There are plenty of shops for retail therapy, F&B outlets, as well as entertainment such as an Olympic-size ice skating rink, bowling alley and bookshops to keep your kids entertained.

Verdict: Great family-friendly hotel with friendly staff, great rooms and delicious food.

Room rates start from RM300+ per night.
